Did you Know...

• One of the classic treatises on the art of hunting and falconry is La venerie de Lacques du Fouilloux..., (Rouen, 1650). From the Veterinary Collection.
• In 1966, Special Collections acquired Conrad Gesner's Historia Animalium (Zurich, 1551-1558) for it's Natural History collection. This title formed a link between between the medieval bestiary, largely baseed on Aristotle and fable, and the tradition of modern zoology. Gesner's animals are described from observation and his woodcuts are recognizably accurate.
• All of the materials in Special Collections are housed on moveable book stacks, which total over four miles of shelving.
