Silverman
has had two short stories nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and
is a frequent judge for fiction and nonfiction writing awards.
She also conducts creative writing and nonfiction work shops
at various colleges, universities and writing conferences around
the country.
In addition to writing, she is an associate editor of the
literary journal, Fourth Genre: Explorations in Nonfiction,
as well as a professional speaker on the issues of child abuse,
family dynamics, and addictions. Silverman received an Honorary
Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Aquinas College for
her work in literature and child abuse victim advocacy. She
is a member of the faculty of the M.F.A. in Writing program
at Vermont College.
Silverman lives in Michigan with her cat, Quizzle.
